Raga Journey is a free, personal, non-commercial project for exploring Carnatic ragas. This page explains what information the app handles and why. In short: no accounts, no cookies, no ads, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
When you use the Raga Finder, the audio you record or upload is sent to the Raga Journey server, analysed, and then deleted. Recordings are never stored, and nobody listens to them.
If you tap 👍 or 👎, we keep the pitch of the notes over time — a list of frequencies, with no sound, voice or words — together with the result, the raga name and any note you type, the date and the app version. The recording itself is analysed and deleted, as always. This lets the Raga Finder be checked and retrained on real examples.
It is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Mumbai region), read only by the maker of Raga Journey, and never shown in the app. It is not linked to your name, email or IP address.

Showing comments in the app: if you tick “You may show my comment in the app”, your comment may appear in Raga Journey with your name, or as “A listener” if you gave none. Your email is never shown. Nothing is shown without that tick, and a comment is removed if you ask.
To have your feedback removed, send another message through the form saying which one (and include the same email if you gave one) and it will be deleted.
To see how many people use Raga Journey and which pages help most, visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and does not identify you — it records only the page, the country and the type of device, added up across all visitors.
The app remembers a few settings in your browser (for example that you have seen the welcome guide, and your chosen Sa and instrument). They stay on your device and are never sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
Raga Journey is hosted on Google Cloud (Mumbai region). Like any website, the hosting service briefly processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and keep the service secure; Raga Journey does not store it with anything you send.
Anyone can use Raga Journey without giving any personal information. If you are under 13, please don’t include your name or email in feedback.
